Curriculum
CURRICULUM AND ASSESSMENT
The Elementary programs use the Core Knowledge Curriculum from the CORE Knowledge Foundation in Charlottesville, VA. The preschool and Georgia state Pre-K classes use Creative Curriculum. Weekly notes and monthly calendars are sent home to keep parents informed of the concepts and skills being covered in the classroom. Copies of the curriculum are available for preview in the school office.
Preschool Assessment
An inventory of assessment is maintained for each child. The purpose of the inventory is to track each child’s progress and to assist the teacher in daily planning. Mandatory conferences are held twice a year to review the assessment with parents. Phone conferences, additional in-person conferences, and progress notes may be used by the teacher to inform parents of progress, needs, or concerns.
Pre-K and Elementary Assessment
Report cards are sent home 3 times per year for Kindergarten and 1 st Grade and twice a year for Pre-Kindergarten. Other periodic reports are done by phone calls or written notes.
