Parental Involvement
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
Parents are encouraged to be involved in Memorial Dr. Presbyterian Community Children’s Program. Each family volunteers a minimum often (10) hours per year to the school.
The school sponsors the following activities during the school year:
- Orientation for Parents
- Open House
- Fall Parents Meeting
- Parent-Teacher Conferences
- Muffins with Mom
- Daddies’ Dessert
- Spring Fling
A vital part of our school has been the active support of our program by the parents through our Parents’ Association. There are many projects and activities that the association has sponsored in the past and look forward to doing again this year. Our goal is 100% participation by our parents. Activities include
- Welcome Back to School Supper
- Magazine Sale Fundraiser
- Book Fair
- Winter Family Dinner
- Spring Auction
- Wish tree (opportunity for teachers and staff to place classroom and school “wishes” and “needs” on a tree displayed in the preschool. Parents adopt and fulfill the wishes throughout the year).
NEWSLETTER
To keep you informed of your child’s activities, a monthly calendar and newsletter are sent home. Please check your child’s school bag at the beginning of each month for the calendar, newsletter, and tuition slip.
SERVICE PROJECTS
We feel it is never too early for children to start learning to care about others. During the school year, the children will participate in projects that will help foster this philosophy. We will ask them to bring canned goods for the Community Food Baskets and clothes for the Community Clothes Closet. This will be strictly voluntary on your part, and we hope that this will not take away from any church or community project in which you are already involved.
