PARENTS MORNING OUT PROGRAM       AUGUST-MAY

9:00 AM- 12:00 PM

Children 2 years of age – Monday through Friday

Parents are to bring their child into the classroom, sign in and leave a phone number where the parent or someone responsible can be reached in case of illness or accident.  Please notify the teacher that morning and make a note on the sign in sheet if someone other than the parent is going to pick up your child that day.  Children should arrive at 9:00 AM.  Prior to that time the teachers are preparing the classroom for the day’s activities.

CLOTHING

Please send in a bag daily (with the child’s name clearly marked) and any necessary clothes for changing.  Clothing should also be labeled with your child’s name.  Children should not wear pacifiers on strings or any other dangerous items around their necks.

SNACKS

The school provides morning snacks for Parents Morning Out students.  Please notify the school in writing if your child is allergic to specific foods or there are any religious restrictions.

  • GEORGIA LOTTERY FUNDED PRE-K PROGRAM
  • History

In August 2006 the school changed the program that was offered to 4-year old students.  In 2005 a Georgia Lottery Pre-K class was added to options for parents of 4-year old children.  That year a tuition based class and the Georgia Funded Pre-K class were offered to parents.  The tuition-based class was low in attendance that year and registration for the following year was also low.  Financially, the class could not be sustained.  In the fall of 2006, the school was awarded another GA lottery class.  The Georgia Lottery funded Pre-K became the school’s program for 4 year old students.

The school offers students who are 4 years old on or before September 1st the opportunity to participate in the state funded Pre-K program.  Children are eligible to attend for one year only.  Proof of age, residency, certificate of immunization (DHR Form 3231) and a Certificate of Ear, Eye and Dental Exam (3300) are needed in order to register for the class.  Unlike public schools where a lottery method is used to select students, Memorial Drive uses a first come, first served basis for the slots in the class.  Enrollment time is announced in the spring of each year.

    Orientation

An open house is held in February or March for parents whose students will enter Pre-K the following year.  Once enrolled a mandatory parent orientation session is held in August to assist with the family’s transition into this program before school begins.  This orientation includes specific information about the curriculum, the Pre-K content standards, and school policies.

    Calendar Year

Georgia’s Pre-K Program operates for 180 days per year.  The core instructional program begins at 8:30 AM and is 6.5 hours per day.  Families enrolling children in the program must agree to send the child the full 6.5 hours of instructional time, five days per week for the entire 180 days.

    Fees

The 6.5 core instructional program is provided at no charge to the parents. If you choose to participate in extracurricular activities, fees will be assessed.  These include, but are not limited to:  insurance, school photographs, T-Shirts, uniforms, extended day services, meals, etc.
